Let it be Love

My brother’s home! This is one of the days in a year wherein I get to see my brother who works in Australia. It was his lifelong dream; when you live in lack there are only two things you do, which is either you dream or you hang yourself. Thankfully my brother chose the former. And one of the reasons why my brother dreamed of working overseas is because he loves his family so much he’d sacrifice seeing them each day, just so he might see them happy and successful one day. His wife also resides here, so they’ve taken the time to catch up.

But one of the things that drive all of us to pursue our goals, is love. You know, it’s okay if you’ll sleep with an empty stomach, so long as you know that your family’s faring well; We’d rather suffer than to see our loved ones suffering.

On the other hand, the best encouragers that I know of are my family, my girlfriend, and my closest friends. Many times I have lost heart to pursue my dreams and look for my place in the stars. Many times I contemplated suicide. A good number of instances I thought myself weak, useless, and stupid.

But they wouldn’t believe me whenever I would put myself down, because they believed in me and in the potential that they see in me.

And they wouldn’t let me go, no matter how many times I hurt them or disappoint them with my failures. And that’s because they love me, and there is nothing more satisfying in this life than to see your loved ones happy and whole.

Nobody’s perfect, and there’s no guarantee that we’ll never hurt our loved ones. In fact the greatest source of one’s pain is the lot of people who mean the world to him. You cannot be hurt by someone who means nothing to you.

Now the reason we cry whenever our loved ones suffer is because they mean so much to us.

And that’s also the reason we strive hard and beat our backs and suffer, even though our paycheck doesn’t do justice.

It’s kind of ridiculous, but truly, love is the most powerful thing in the world. And we’d die before we will ever fathom the depths of it.

As Isaac Newton said, “If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants.”

How about you, who are you standing on? And what is your reason?

Let it be love.
